Portugal

Portugal has long been one of Europe’s favourite golf destinations, and it is easy to see why. With a mild climate, excellent golf courses, beautiful coastlines and a relaxed way of life, it offers the ingredients for a memorable golf holiday at almost any time of year.

From the Atlantic coastline around Lisbon and the dramatic landscapes of the Silver Coast to the sun-drenched Algarve, Portugal offers an impressive variety of golf experiences. Many courses make the most of their surroundings, with ocean views, pine forests, rolling countryside and, in some cases, spectacular dunes forming part of the experience.

But Portugal's appeal extends well beyond its golf. Historic towns and cities, outstanding food and wine, beautiful beaches and a strong sense of local character mean that a round of golf can sit naturally alongside sightseeing, long lunches, wine tasting, walking or simply enjoying the surroundings.

Lisbon

While the Algarve may be the country’s best-known golfing region, we’ve chosen to focus our attention on Lisbon. For us, Lisbon offers something particularly appealing: the opportunity to combine excellent golf with a vibrant and beautiful city, spectacular Atlantic coastline, outstanding food and wine, fascinating history and a wealth of experiences away from the course. It feels like a destination where golf can be an important part of the holiday, without being the sole reason for being there — which is exactly the kind of golf holiday we believe in at Golfing Together.

One of the great attractions of the Lisbon region is the variety of experiences within a relatively compact area. To the west of the city, the elegant coastal resorts of Cascais and Estoril provide an excellent base for exploring the Atlantic coast and the historic landscapes of Sintra, while further north the coastline becomes wilder and more dramatic, stretching towards the Silver Coast and the historic town of Óbidos. South of Lisbon, across the Tagus, the landscape changes again, with long sandy beaches, protected nature reserves, vineyards and a more relaxed, rural character around the Setúbal Peninsula and the coast towards Comporta. In between, Lisbon itself offers the contrasting experience of a vibrant historic city, renowned for its architecture, food, wine and distinctive neighbourhoods. This combination of city, coast, countryside, nature and excellent golf — with each area offering its own character — makes the Lisbon region an exceptionally versatile destination for a Golfing Together holiday.
